Accounting for the Environment: Packaging

Overview: 

Accounting for Packaging will help you prepare for the increasingly prescriptive environmental reports that are commonly required in relation to packaging programs, particularly the Australian Packaging Covenant. You will understand your role in preparing metrics, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), to ensure that your organisation complies with the required regulations. This course will also enable you to operate more strategically to deal with such matters as stakeholder engagement around packaging, while helping you understand the impact that packaging and waste has on operational costs.

  • Ensure you manage the personal or professional risks of non-compliance

Module 4 – Using Financial Data to Achieve APC Goals

In this module you will be able to review:

  • A client information request for packaging metrics
  • Procedures to improve data quality about waste arising onsite
  • Key documentation required for assurance of compliance
  • The qualities of a good reporting process

Module 5 – Mandatory and Voluntary Reporting

By completing this module you will understand packaging compliance in context of your organisation's strategic objectives and reporting requirements and be able to:

  • Identify reports your packaging information can feed in to
  • Identify where packaging impacts strategic objectives
  • Understand relevant packaging data and indicators

Module 6 - Your Action Plan & Toolkit

In this final module, you will focus on moving your learning from the theoretical to the practical, enabling you to put what you have learned on this course into practice to positively impact on your organisation's bottom line, its sustainability and its reputation.
